Cincinnati Fire Department

The Cincinnati Fire Department enjoys the distinction of being the first full-time, paid professional fire-fighting organization in the United States.  This tradition continues today with the department continuing to provide the citizens of Cincinnati with the highest level of fire protection and EMS service.  The department is organized into 4 districts with 26 stations.  Principal fire suppression apparatus includes 27 engine companies, 12 ladder companies and 2 heavy rescue companies along with a number of specialized apparatus.  EMS service is provided by 12 ALS ambulance (medic) units along with paramedic engine companies.  There is at least one paramedic on call in each fire station.

01/24 - Ladder 24 placed into service a new E-One rear-mount aerial;

08/23 - Ladder 23 placed into service a new E-One Typhoon 110' aerial.

06/23 - Cincinnati purchased a 2005 HME / Rosenbauer pumper truck from Anderson Township for the Training Bureau.  Three new Ford Transit vans were also purchased. They are used to transport the recruit class between locations or for any other transportation needs.

05/23 - Engine 46 placed into service a 2017 Rosenbauer pumper truck that had previously been assigned to Engine 24.

04/23 - Engine 24 received a new E-One Typhoon pumper truck.

02/23 - Medic 46 received a new Ford / Horton ambulance.  It is the third ambulance to be delivered in the new red color scheme.

11/22 - A new company was established on Nov 4, 2022 as Engine 235, and renumbered to Engine 1 on Nov 13, 2022.  The new company is located at Station 35 and is using a 2003 E-One pumper truck that was previously assigned to Engine 31.

10/22 - Cincinnati acquired a 2011 Chevrolet / Super-Vac / Summit ventilation unit from the Point Pleasant Fire District in Northern Kentucky.  It has been assigned to Station 21 as Ventilation 21.
 
08/22 - A pair of new Ford / Horton ambulances were put into service with Medic 9 and Medic 12.  They are the first Cincinnati ambulances to be painted solid red since the late 1980's.

05/22 - Cincinnati placed into service a 2005 Rosenbauer Panther with Crash Rescue 218 at Lunken Airfield.  The unit was acquired from the Cincinnati / NKY Int'l Airport Fire Department.

11/21 - A pair of new      E-One pumper trucks were placed into serrvice with Engine 20 and Engine 35

Engine 35''s 2020 E-One  has been reassigned to Engine 21,

09/21 - Medic 24 placed into service a new Ford / Horton ambulance.

07/21 - Medic 2 received a new Ford / Horton ambulance.

03/21 - A new E-One Typhoon rear-mount aerial was placed into service with Ladder 17.

08/20 - Three new Ford F-150 pick-ups were placed into service with ALS 32, ALS 34 and ALS 35.

06/20 - Two new E-One pumper trucks were assigned to Engine 35 and Engine 51.  They are the first Cincinnati E-One apparatus to be on a Typhoon chassis. 

Subsequent apparatus reassignments due to the new purchases:

Engine 35's  2019 E-One Cyclone II was reassigned to Engine 31.

Engine 51's 2009 Spartan / Rosenbauer became a reserve engine.

05/20 - Cincinnati purchased a new Ford    F-350 for the Fuel Truck and assigned it to  Station 38.  The previous fuel truck, a 1998 Chevrolet was located at Station 12

12/19 - Two new Ford / Horton ambulances were placed into service with Medic 9 and Medic 12.

09/19 -  Heavy Rescue 14 received a new Zodiac Milpro boat.

08/19 - Two new Ford / Horton ambulances were placed into service with Medic 19 and Medic 46.

06/19 - Ladder 2 placed into service a new E-One rear-mount aerial.

06/19 - Engine 32 received a new E-One pumper truck.  With the new arrival, the 2009 Rosenbauer was reassigned to the Training Bureau as Engine 229.

05/19 - Engine 35 placed into service a new E-One pumper truck.  Their 2013 Rosenbauer was reassigned to Engine 37.

05/19 - Cincinnati acquired a Ford F-550 / Summit from Sharonville (OH) for use as a utility / support vehicle.

04/19 - Ladder 24 received a new E-One rear-mount aerial.

04/19 - Engine 5 received the first new E-One purchased by the department since 2004.    It also marked the returm to the traditional solid red paint scheme.  With the new arrival, their 2003 E-One was reassigned to Engine 7.

02/19 - Four new 2018 Ford F-150's were assigned to District Chiefs 2, 3, 4 and Safety   Officer 2 (SO2).

11/18 - District 1 received a new Ford F-150 pick-up. This is the first Cincinnati command vehicle to use a pick-up style truck.

10/18 - Heavy Rescue 9 placed into service a new Rosenbauer Commander.  The 2008 Spartan / Rosenbauer previously assigned to HR9  became the spare heavy rescue.

09/18 - Ladder 35 received a new Rosenbauer rear-mount aerial.

08/18 - Three new Rosenbauer pumper trrucks were received and assigned to Engine 2, Engine 12 & Engine 29.

purchases:

Engine 2's 2012 Spartan / Rosenbauer reassigned to
Engine 49.

Engine 12's 2011 Spartan Rosenbauer reassigned to Engine 50.

Engine 29's 2009 Spartan / Rsosenbauer reassigned to Engine 8.

05/18 - Four new Ford / Horton ambulances have been placed into service with Medics 17, 23, 29 and 51.

02/18 - The department received a pair of new ambulance remounts from Emergency Vehicles Plus.
They have been assigned to Medic 2 and Medic 35.

02/18 - Two new Ford / Horton ambulances have been placed into service with Medics 24 and 46.

11/17 - The 2011 Spartan / Rosenbauer previously assigned to Ladder 20 has been reassigned to Ladder 35.

10/17 - Ladder 2 placed into service a new Rosenbauer aerial. 

09/17 -  Ladder 20 received a new ladder truck from Rosenbauer.

08/17 - Engine 19 and Engine 24 received new pumper trucks from Rosenbauer.  Engine 24's 2009 Rosenbauer was reassigned to Engine 18.  District 2 placed into service a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor.

07/17 - Engine 23 placed into service a new Rosenbauer pumper truck.

06/17 - Heavy Rescure 14 placed into service a new  Rosenbauer Commander.

04/17 - Medic 9 received a new Emergency Vehicles Plus ambulance. It is a remount of a Braun boxe on a new Ford F-450 chassis.

03/17 - Cincinnati District 4 received a 2017 Ford, and It is the first Police Interceptor model placed into front line service with the CFD.

01/17 - Medic 3 and Medic 12 each received a new Emergency Vehicles Plus ambulance. They are both remounts of  Braun boxes on a new Ford F-450 chassis.

10/16 - Medic 19 placed into service a new 2016 Ford / Horton Ambulance.

10/16 - Medic 17 received a new Emergency Vehicles Plus ambulance. It is a remount of a Braun box on a Ford chassis.

10/16 - Ladder 21 has been relocated to Station 35 and is now running as Ladder 35,

08/16 - A new pumper truck from Rosenbauer has been placed into service with Engine 17.

01/16 - Medic 23 placed  into service a new Ford / Horton ambulance.

11/15 - Medic 29 received a new 2015 Emergency Vehicles Plus remount of a Braun box on a Ford F-450 chassis.

08/15 - New Rosenabuer aooaratus have been placed into service with both Engine 3 and Ladder 3

05/15 - Engine 29 has been assigned the 2009 Spartan / Rosenbauer previously assigned to Engine 35.

03/15 - Medic 3 received a new remount of a Braun box on a Ford chassis from Emergency Vehicles Plus

12/14 - Engine 35 received a 2013 Rosenbauer glider kit rebuild of Engine 32's 2003 E-One.

11/14 - Two new Horton ambulances have been received and placed into service with Medic 24 and Medic 51.

07/14 - A new Ford / Horton ambulance has been placed into service with Medic 46.

01/14 - ALS 38 has been relocated to the new Station 35 and is running as ALS 35.

11/13 - The new Station 35 has been placed into service.  With the opening of the new firehouse, Medic 21 has been relocated to Station 35 and is now running as Medic 35.

02/13 - The Safety Officer is a newly created position that responds to 1 alarm or greater fires and other specified incidents.  The radio designation is SO2 and the unit responds out of Station 14.  As a result of the change, the Mask Service Unit has been relocated to Station 18.

01/13 - A third EMS Suoervisor has gone into service as ALS 38 running out of Station 38.

07/12 - The department has announced the construction of a new fire station for Engine 35.  When complete, the station will house a medic unit in addition to the engine company.

03/12 - A significant change for the department - unit number graphics have been added to all medic and staff vehicles.

01/12 - Cincinnati has established a second EMS Field Supervisor as ALS 32 running out of Station 32.

12/11 - Cincinnati has received 4 new pumper trucks from Rosenbauer.  They have been assigned to Engine 2,  Engine 9, Engine 12 and Engine 38.

07/11 - The hazardous materials unit has been relocated to Station 14 and is now running as Haz Mat 14.

05/11 - Medic 18 has been moved and is now running as Medic 21.

04/11 - Cincinnati has received 3 new Rosenbauer aerials.  They have been assigned to Ladder 17, Ladder 20 and Ladder 31.

04/11 - All Cincinnati ambulance units are now running as ALS and have adopted the Hamilton County unit designation of "Medic".  The  previous "Ambulance" and "Rescue" designations have been dropped.  In addition, the previous Squad companies (9 & 14) are now running as Heavy Rescues and the EMS supervisor (Rescue 2) is now ALS 34.

12/09 - The last two pumpers in the Rosenbauer order have arrived and have been assigned to Engine 21 and Engine 35.

11/09 - The new Station 51 is operational.  The larger facility has allowed Ambulance 51 to be established.

08/09 - The second batch of Rosenbauer pumpers have arrived.  They have been assigned to Engine 12, Engine 14 and Engine 34.

06/09 - Three new Rosenbauer pumpers have been received.  They have been assigned to Engine 20, Engine 24 and Engine 51.

10/08 - Cincinnati currently has 8 new pumpers on order with Rosenbauer.

04/08 - The new Spartan / Rosenbauer heavy rescue for Squad 9 goes into service.

03/08 - The new Station 9 is operational, It is the first new station to be built for Cincinnati in over 25 years.
